Privacy Policy

1 Overview

FaceMap is a face-shape and facial-proportion analysis app. It measures your face using an on-device 468-point face mesh, classifies your face shape, computes a geometry-based "Face Score," and recommends hairstyles, beards, and glasses that suit your proportions.

This policy explains exactly what data the app touches, what it does with it, and what it deliberately never does — it's written to match the app's actual behavior, not a generic template.

2 What FaceMap processes

Camera photo / picked photo

Used to detect your 468-point face mesh and compute measurements. Never leaves your device.

Face measurements & score

Used to classify your face shape and compute a symmetry/balance score and style recommendations. Never leaves your device.

A small cropped thumbnail

Shown in your scan History list. Never leaves your device.

Onboarding answers (age range, styling goals)

Used to personalize which styles are shown first. Never leaves your device.

Re-scan reminder preference

Used to schedule an optional local notification. Never leaves your device.

All five are computed and stored on your device only, using Android's local Room database and DataStore preferences. FaceMap has no server, no user database, and no way to see any of this even if it wanted to.

3 What we don't collect

• No name, email, or phone number — there is no account or sign-in system in FaceMap.
• No advertising identifiers, and no ad SDKs are built into the app.
• No third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK ships in FaceMap, so no usage events are collected off-device.
• No contacts, location, microphone, or broad photo-library access — FaceMap uses Android's system Photo Picker, which shares only the one image you explicitly select.
• No biometric identity data. Face mesh measurements describe geometry (proportions and distances), not an identity template, and are never used to identify or verify who you are.

4 Where your data lives

Everything FaceMap stores — scan history, thumbnails, measurements, and preferences — lives in a local database and local preferences file on your device. The app explicitly disables Android's automatic cloud backup and device-transfer for this data, so a scan's data doesn't silently follow you to a new phone or a cloud restore — uninstalling FaceMap removes it completely.

5 Permissions we ask for

Camera

To capture a photo for analysis. Only used while you're actively scanning.

Notifications

Only requested if you opt in to re-scan reminders — never asked for otherwise.

FaceMap does not request storage, contacts, location, or microphone permissions. One more permission appears in the installed app's permission list even though no FaceMap code asks for it: internet access. It's added automatically by Google's on-device ML library for that SDK's own diagnostics — no code FaceMap has written uses it, and no photo, measurement, or face data is ever sent through it. 6 Purchases & billing data

FaceMap offers an optional Premium unlock (₹149/week or a ₹499 one-time Lifetime option) via Google Play's Billing system, managed through RevenueCat. When you purchase, Google Play processes the transaction — FaceMap never sees or stores your card number, UPI ID, or any other payment credential. RevenueCat receives your purchase token and an anonymous device identifier so the app can check what you own; it never receives your photos, face measurements, or any other analysis data. Google's and RevenueCat's handling of this information is governed by their own privacy policies.

7 Third parties

Google ML Kit

Finds facial landmarks. The detection model is bundled inside the app itself at install time — it is not downloaded from Google at runtime — and runs entirely on-device. Your photo is processed locally by this library and is not uploaded to Google or any other server as part of that analysis.

Google Play Billing

Processes purchases of the optional Premium unlock. See "Purchases & billing data" above.

RevenueCat

Manages Premium entitlement state. Receives a purchase token and an anonymous device identifier only — never your photos or analysis data.

8 Your controls

• Delete a single scan: swipe or tap delete on any entry in History.
• Delete everything: Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete all my data — permanently removes every saved scan and photo immediately.
• Turn off reminders: Settings → Re-scan reminders, or revoke notification permission in Android's system settings.
• Uninstall: since nothing is backed up off-device, uninstalling the app removes all of the above along with it.

9 Children's privacy

FaceMap is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. Because the app performs no server-side data collection at all, there is no server-side children's data to hold in the first place.

10 Changes to this policy

We will update this page when what FaceMap collects or how it's used changes, and note the date of the most recent revision above.
